IKEA, Airbnb, and Nespresso are some of the market leaders that adopt Design Thinking to design products and services that people find extremely valuable.
Whether you are running a startup, SME or managing a large enterprise, Design Thinking has been proven to be the source of competitive advantage and a driver of growth for companies of any size. Companies are also realizing that they can no longer afford not to implement Design Thinking if they are to survive or even thrive. Hence, the necessity of Design Thinking is prevalent, as good design after all leads to good business. And it starts with people and upgrading the workforce in the sought- after 21st century skill.
This course aims to guide students in becoming a creative problem-solver / innovator. Students will gain core skills by learning the mindset, methods and tools of Design Thinking.
By the end of the 2-day course, students will learn how to:
– Uncover emerging trends impacting a chosen market segment
– Empathize with target customers through ethnography research
– Reveal innovation opportunities by discovering unmet needs and latent desires of target customers
– Design breakthrough products and services that satisfy target customers’ needs and desires
– Define minimum valuable proposition to the market
– Develop experiments and prototypes to validate assumptions of new ideas
About the Instructor
Jeffrey Tjendra is the founder and Design Executive Officer at Business Innovation by Design, where he guides startups, SMEs and MNCs how to continuously innovate and become design-driven companies. He has worked in Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, Italy and Switzerland serving clients such as CapitaMalls Asia, MediaCorp, Metro, Schneider Electric, 3 Italia and Telekom Malaysia.
