Are You Running a Process Or Is The Process Running You?

If you rely on people running processes, you’re creating inefficiencies and putting yourself in a vulnerable position.
If a person is sick, the work stops.
If a person has a skills gap, the work can’t start or done incorrectly.
Since human capital is usually the costliest expense, especially in the midst of talent war - we got to think in reverse.
Process must operate the people, not people operate the process.
In order for this to work, it can only happen with automation.
What it looks like when process runs people:
🤖 Data is collected and synthesized.
💁♂️ People review what data to be collected and make sure data is cleaned and organized.
🤖 Data is ensured to be organized and clean to be used as input.
🤖 Analysis is shown to describe and diagnose what’s happening.
💁♂️ People make sense of the analysis to gain insights that will help them make data-informed decisions.
🤖 Analysis predicts and prescribes what to do the next.
🤖 Workflow is automated to run to deliver output.
💁♂️ People verifies output and use the output as input for another workflow.
🤖 Workflow output is integrated as input for another workflow.
The beauty is, if you remove people out of the equation, the process runs itself.

This means the role of people is to augment the process.
But people must be able to create, evaluate and optimize the process for others to follow.
Technology is meant to help people augment processes - not the other way round.
Old paradigm: Tacit knowledge from talents aren’t captured.
New paradigm shift: Institutional knowledge built in with the process. Tacit knowledge from talents are captured to create and optimize processes.
Companies shouldn’t be dependent solely on people to do work. Companies must always create dependency on process augmented with technology, run by people.
This is what AI first operations is all about. Process runs people.
